The End

With all of the hoopla and whatnot with the LOST finale, I wasn't going to post anything about it, but I can't keep quiet any longer. So, here you go -

There were lots of hot guys on LOST. And for that, I will always be grateful.

Oh, and I thought the finale was good, too.

The End.

A New Pet Peeve

Being the very reasonable person that I am, you may be surprised to learn that I have some pet peeves. Yes, it's true. They're not anything major. Some examples include:

  • People saying "I could care less" instead of "I couldn't care less"
  • Doors and drawers not getting closed all the way on cabinets and cupboards
  • Pants being worn so low they could practically be legwarmers

I have recently discovered a new pet peeve to add to this list. A couple of months ago, my employer moved offices. Our new building has a feature that many buildings have in place. It's a button you can push, either inside or outside, that will automatically open the door for you. This button is in place for those who might not be able to open the door for themselves, such as people in wheelchairs, on crutches or carrying a load that requires both hands. It could also be used for those bringing in items on a trolley or handtruck.

Now, I realize that these are not the only people who can use this button. And I understand that anyone who can reach the button can use it. But it bothers me to no end that so many people use the button. I don't know that I can fully express how irritated I get when I see someone who, in my opinion, does not need extra help opening a door push the button. I don't see why any able-bodied person would use the button. The doors are not very heavy. It takes longer to walk over to the button and push it than it does to just walk up to the door and open it. Sheesh.

And, yes, I realize that this is a totally silly and pointless thing to be bugged about.

But I am.

Pet peeves of yours?

Two Fine Ladies

A) If you're not watching "30 Rock" and "Parks and Recreation" you're missing out on some stellar entertainment. And since they both just had their season finales, you're going to have to wait until this fall to enjoy them.
B) Sometimes the only thing that gets me through the week is knowing I'll get a dose of Ms. Fey and Ms. Poehler on Thursdays. And since they both just had their season finales, I'm going to need to rent "Baby Mama" repeatedly or something to get me through the summer.
C) I sometimes wonder if Tina Fey has based parts of Liz Lemon on me because I identify with her much too well.
D) I love, love, love the adorable craziness that is Amy Poehler's portrayal of Leslie Knope, eternal optimist.
E) I am 99% sure that if I could ever meet Tina Fey or Amy Poehler we would be friends. And laugh a lot.

Sweet Little Fatso

For you all of you who are wondering whether or not fat is good for you, I submit the following:

The newest addition to my fan club aka my newest niece

If I could, I would nibble those chins right off and eat her cheeks with a spoon.

But the really sad part?

She hasn't met me yet, and so she doesn't know that I'm her favorite. I know, right?!

Such are the trials of a really awesome aunt.

My Friends, They Rock

The comfort of feeling safe with a person.
Having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words,
but to pour them all out, just as they are.
Certain that the faithful hand will take and sift them.
Keep what is worth keeping,
and blow the rest away.

— George Eliot

I had a great time last night, Kris. Thank you for being a good constant in my life, no matter where either of us are geographically, mentally, socially or emotionally. Love ya.

Good Idea/Bad Idea

Good Idea:

Spending some lovely quiet time at home getting caught up on the episodes of "Parenthood" on my DVR.

Bad Idea:

Watching this great comedy/drama (with Lauren Graham and Peter Krause and Ericka Christensen and the amazing kids who play their kids) while extremely hormonal.

Result:

Crying over a network show while eating too much ice cream. All alone.

Lesson learned:

Great show to watch but only when emotionally and hormonally stable.
