I'm pretty sad that a stellar writer/director/producer has passed away. Nora Ephron has affected my life in a big way, especially since I consider romantic comedies some of the best movies to watch. And I love that she was such a success in a male-dominated industry.
It's because of her the following quotes are permanantly a part of me:
- I was taking her hand to help her out of a car, and I knew. It was like . . . magic.
- You're right. You're right. I know you're right.
- Oh, no, she's beautiful, but she's a pill.
- Shut up? Shut up? Mom never said shut up to me!
- So much of what I see reminds me of something I read in a book, when shouldn't it be the other way around?
- Tell me I'll never have to be out there again.
- F-o-x
- I would have asked for your number, and I wouldn't have been able to wait twenty-four hours before calling you and saying, "Hey, how about . . . oh, how about some coffee or, you know, drinks or dinner or a movie . . . for as long as we both shall live?"
- I just want to say that all this nothing has meant more to me than so many somethings.
- I've been doing a lot of thinking, and the thing is, I love you.
Farewell, Nora. Thanks for all the laughs about love.
