My Cup Runneth Over

I've always liked Thanksgiving because you cannot reflect on the good things in your life too much. Every year there seems to be another reason to be grateful to be me and have my life. Things aren't perfect, but they're pretty dang good.

Here are some of the things I'm especially thankful for in 2008:

  • An incredible family who loves me in endless ways
  • Amazing friends who keep life interesting and fun
  • A warm bed in a comfortable house
  • A job that continually challenges me and lets me pay my bills
  • A healthy body that can do pretty cool things
  • Experiences that remind me how fun/awesome/amazing life is
  • Parents who are willing to serve and be good examples for their kids & grandkids
  • Being able to party like a rockstar and love life

Some story about vampires and teenagers

Apparently there's some movie that just came out about teenage vampires or vampires in high school or falling in love with a vampire or something.

I might go check it out.

What do I say?

You know how when there's an event you're really, really looking forward to, and then you go to it, and you've been so excited and so worked up that your expectations are too high and you just end up being disappointed and feeling let down with the reality of it?

Well, I can safely say that the New Kids on the Block concert was nothing like that.

It was FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!!

Seriously, I could die now and have a majority of my life expectations fulfilled.

So, let me give you the low down. The concert was last Saturday night at the E-Center. I went with one of my sisters and a friend {Shout-out to Em who missed the concert due to puking. I did scream and yell just for you. The fellas missed you. I could sense it.}.

We had floor seats, which I was a bit worried about once we got there because I am not large in stature and was afraid I'd miss a lot. But, thankfully, I didn't. They had three huge screens that helped Miss Shorty a ton.

The fellas opened with "Single" and had the crowd screaming for the next two hours. One of the best parts was that at one point they sang on a circular stage in the middle of the floor. I was, like, 15 feet from them. I know. So awesome.

I have to thank a friend who was also at the show and got great pictures. Here are a few:

So, I have been {and always will be} a Joey Mc girl. He basically started the show, singing lead on "Single." It was pretty awesome.

The fellas sang "Please Don't Go Girl" including my very favorite part where Joey speaks the words, "I'm gonna always love you girl." He even got down on his knees for me. He really wants me to stay. I'll stay, Joey, I'll stay.

These guys had more costume changes than any other group/performer I've ever seen. They ended with a shout-out to Beantown in their Celtics jerseys. Looking good, so, so good.
Yes, it was absolutely fantastic. I would go see them again in a heartbeat. Now the only disappointment is that it's over. Sigh.

The publishing world has finally recognized a truth I have known for years:

How shall I celebrate his win?

The time has come

After all this time (late 80s, early 90s), I finally get to see them. In person. Tomorrow night.
I. Am. So. Excited.

Just a random bit

So, I had an interesting quasi-encounter earlier today. I was driving down the street when I passed a man out for a jog. Not a big deal. But this guy with long white hair (past his shoulders) wore old aviator sunglass, an old blue hoodie, quite short jean cut-offs and sparkling white running shoes. As I watched him run by, I wondered 1) how he came up with such an outfit, 2) why he chose to wear that outfit to go running and 3) what sorts of interesting things he could tell me.

I'm not kidding. I was very tempted to stop the car and flag him down, just so we could have a chat. You know a guy looking like that has some stories he could tell.

Other Halloween Pics

Here are some pictures to show you, once again, faithful readers, why I have the most awesome family ever.

Jack Jack Incredible: What other baby could pull this costume off so perfectly?
Dash Incredible: Of course, his brother had to coordinate.

Ghost Baby: So cute. Not bad for his first Halloween.

Elephant Boy: This one soooo cracked me up.

Butterfly Girl: Isn't she just so sweet? Yeah, pretty much she is.

Cinderella and her Mouse Friend: Again, themed costumes with siblings rocks.
And quite possibly my very favorite of the year . . .
My Toupee-Wearing Dad: There are almost no words to describe how awesome this is.

Seriously. So awesome.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

I've always loved dressing up and playing make believe. I did it a ton as a kid. Maybe that's part of the reason I was a drama-nerd in high school. Or maybe I was just a nerd. Hmmm.

But that may also be why I consider Halloween to be one of the best times of the year. Yeah, there's free candy and ghosts and goblins and blah blah blah. But the best part is figuring out a fun costume (or three) to wear.

This year I had the chance to try out a few different looks, what with the different parties and whatnot. Here are the looks I rocked for 2008:

Punk Marie: Really, I'm not as angry as I look. I think I just need a hug.
My work costume: I think I'm buff enough to pull of Mr. Clean. Plus, finding a costume where you get to incorporate a bald cap is always good.
Group Costume: Some friends and I did Mr. Roger's Land of Make Believe characters. I'm Lady Elaine Fairchild. I think this turned out awe-some.

I'm always looking for good ideas for future costumes, so if you have any good ones, throw them my way. I can guaratee I'll be dressing up again next year.
