About a year ago, I had my cholesterol checked because my doctor thought it would be good to know my numbers, have a baseline, etc. Turns out - gasp! - I have high cholesterol. I know, I was surprised too.
So, for a year I have been eating oatmeal for breakfast almost everyday. I don't hate oatmeal, but I sure don't love it either. However, I've been trying to make some positive changes to try to improve my health. I looked forward to this year's blood test with an odd excitement.
Take two. I went in for my annual physical and got my cholesterol checked again. This time my numbers improved {yea!}, but {boo!} I still have high cholesterol. Blast. But I decided to keep eating my oatmeal because maybe it will help, and it's sort of become a habit I don't want to break. At least not yet. And it's sure better than eating the donut I would rather have everyday.
Then I find out that October 29th is National Oatmeal Day - a day I may never have noticed in the past. And guess what I had for breakfast today?
Toast.

Favorite Tweet Today
This is my favorite tweet from Twitter today . . . mostly because I could definitely say the same thing:
BestAt RT @sween: If you ever offer me a cookie and I turn it down, shoot me in the head because an alien is wearing me as a meat suit.

A Treat
Last night while at the Broadway Theater, I saw a preview for a little treat that I can hardly wait for. It is called "Gentlemen Broncos," written and directed by Jared Hess. Yes, he who brought us the other treats of "Napolean Dynamite" and Nacho Libre" has, apparently, done it again.
Now, I was laughing pretty hard through most of the preview, so I may get this wrong, but from what I remember, the movie is about a kid whose science fiction/fantasy (?) story idea gets stolen by a well-known writer. The film stars Michael Angarano as the kid and Jemaine Clement as the writer.
The cast also includes some other greats like Mike White, Jennifer Coolidge and Sam Rockwell.
Yes, awesomeness all around.
Oh, and did I mention that Jemaine Clement is in the movie? Reason enough right there to see it.
I believe it will be in a limited release starting this Friday. Let the wonderful, awkward, purely enjoybable random funniness begin.

FHE
This is what Deb and I are doing for FHE tonight. Anyone is welcome to join us. It's a lovely film about family and hope and moving on.
And Clive Owen is in it, and he's wicked hot, so you know . . .
Update: See this movie. See it right away. And bring lots of tissue. So good.

Retro-Fabulous
I've never seen an episode of "Mad Men," but I can appreciate the coolness of the 1960s. So, when given the chance to "Mad Men" myself, I took it of course. I was totally, totally born in the wrong decade.
Then again, as fabulous as this looks (and surprisingly similar to me), I'm not sure I could stand doing the dress and heels thing everyday. Hmmm. Maybe I should just play dress-up more often.

Random Friday Thought
As I was sitting at the Salt Lake Chapter Cougar Club luncheon yesterday, listening to Offensive Coordinator Robert Anae talk about the TCU match-up this Saturday, this is the thought I had, 'Huh, Coach Anae could totally play an older Jacob Black if they ever made a Twilight movie that takes place like 20 or 30 years from now.'
I didn't say it was a particularly deep or profound or even logical thought. And, yes, I realize Coach Anae is Hawaiian and not Native American, but he has the size and coloring that could work for an older Jacob. No?
Oh, and Go Cougars!

Decisions, decisions
It's a personal decision every girl must make - what to be for Halloween. I take this decision very seriously because, as someone who loooves dressing up, I'm not going to waste the one day a year when it's accepted and expected. A lot of thought goes into this.
This year I wanted to do something kind of girly since I've worn a bald cap two of the last three years. I pondered and pondered. Some of the ideas I came up with:

And what about you, readers? What are your fabulous costume ideas? Need any help?

Paging Dr. Franco?
I love me some James Franco, but I think his newest career choice is just . . . odd.
