An Intriguing Mix

What would happen if Eric Bana {yummy}, Cate Blanchett {radiant} and Saoirse Ronan {amazing}were in an action movie together directed by {Pride & Prejudice} Joe Wright?

To find out, see below.

I'm definitely intrigued.

Sometimes . . .

-I sing my responses to people in my office.
-I want to watch "Keeping up with the Kardashians" even though they are all shallow and stupid.
-I see weird faces in things like wood grain or water stains.
-I want to try to gain as much weight as I can just to see what I'd look like really fat.
-I talk to myself in a British accent.
-I look for my initials on license plates.
-I share too much dumb stuff on my blog.

May Your Days Be Merry & Bright

I was chatting with my soon-to-be 17 year old niece the other day, and she asked me what Santa was bringing me for Christmas.  I had to explain to her that as a single 30-something, Santa no longer makes visits to me {I think I hit the cut-off a few years ago}.  Nowadays I play Santa to myself.  But that doesn't mean that I don't have a great time at Christmas.

I love this time of year.  Love it.  There's great music to listen to, wonderful goodies (prepared by others) to eat, and you usually get to spend time with people who are important to you.  And yes, sometimes there are even presents, but as I've gotten older, even those have become less exciting for me.  I think I get a lot more enjoyment out of the things I get to do with people I love.  And some of those people aren't close enough for me to see {insert super sad face}.  So, I hope that wherever you are, whatever you are doing and whoever you are with, that you have a most wonderful and happy Christmas.

I have no reason to post these pictures {from the early 1980s, baby!}, except for the fact that I think they're funny and cute.  Merry Christmas!

Snowshoeing

This may be my new favorite pasttime.

I get to spend time with my friends.

I get to enjoy the beautiful mountains.

Plus, it gets me off my butt and helps me appreciate the snow, rather than curse it.

That Will Not Earn You a Kiss

I'm sorry to have to say this, but it turns out I am a jewelry snob.  It's true.  Which is kind of weird since I don't even wear that much jewelry.  And I don't think I'm obsessed with it either.  I would much rather look at shoes or handbags than jewelry when I'm shopping.  But as the holiday season and all of its horrible ads are now upon us, I've realized that most of of what I see advertised is crap.

I'm not going to name names or anything {mostly because I don't want to burn any bridges or inflict a lawsuit}, but I have seen more ugly jewelry advertised in the past couple of weeks than should be allowed.  And don't shake your head like you don't know what I'm talking about.  You know what tv commericals I mean.  And everytime I see one, I wonder, 'Really?  Are there really women who like and wear that stuff?'

And it's not like I'm some bitter girl who never got any jewelry and doesn't understand the idea of wearing something more because of its sentimental value than how it looks.  I wore a necklace everyday for weeks simply because I cared about the guy who gave it to me.  And it was ugly.  But the thing is, we both knew it was ugly, and that's part of what made it okay.

Maybe I'm wrong on this, and everyone else thinks that stuff is great.  And that's fine.  I'm okay being a snob.  Just know that if you were planning on getting me that black hills gold heart pendant with the rose in the middle or any other piece of nonsense you saw on a commercial, yes, I will in fact mock you for having such horrible taste.  Especially when Tiffany & Co. has online shopping available, fool.

I've Never Actually Met Him

With a shout-out to my stellar brother-in-law who made me aware of this, please enjoy.

Seriously, how can you not be a fan of this guy?

P.S. Christmas gift ideas for me? Just about any piece of memoribilia they showed.
